Tai Hang Fire Dragon Heritage Centre, was originally a Confucius free school “Hung Shing Yi Hok” built in the late Qing Dynasty.  The building was severly destroyed at World War II.  After the war, the building was re-constructed through local donations and was used for education purposes until 2010 when it was vacant.  Under Batch IV of the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme of the Development Bureau, No. 12 School Street has been revitalised into Tai Hang Fire Dragon Heritage Centre, with the aim to preserve and pass on the heritage of Tai Hang Fire Dragon Dance, which is recognised on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2011.  In addition to visiting the exhibition centre on the ground floor, visitors can learn about the interesting stories of the fire dragon dance, the evolution of the Tai Hang Hakka Village, and the historical building by participating in guided tours and workshops. Visitors can also enjoy special Hakka dishes blending traditional Hakka style and modern tastes.
