Exhibition to continue at two locations

The Commissioner for Heritage's Office of the Development Bureau is pleased to announce that it will extend the highly successful Heritage Discovery roving exhibition at two locations until the end of December.

Since June 1, 2012, the roving exhibition has allowed visitors to take a peek at the past and re-discover Hong Kong's distinct identity. Hosted at various popular locations across the city, the exhibition highlighted special parts of Hong Kong's history and built heritage.

Due to the exhibition's overwhelming popularity, attracting over 140 000 visitors, the Commissioner for Heritage's Office has decided to extend the exhibition period at two of the exhibition locations.

The exhibition at the Hong Kong International Airport's Terminal 1 Arrival Hall A as well as E1 Transfer Area will be extended until the end of December. More visitors will be able to experience two of the presentation themes, including a look at Hollywood Road's past and a glimpse of the archaeological remains of the Wun Yiu Kiln site.

Another exhibit which features Hollywood Road and Access Heritage themes in the Thematic Exhibition Gallery at the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre in Kowloon Park, Tsim Sha Tsui, will now be on display from November 9 to December 12, 2012.

"The cultural impact of Hong Kong's built heritage cannot be underestimated," said a spokesperson for the Development Bureau, "This is why we are so pleased that ‘Heritage Discovery' has been well-received by the public. It is our hope that by extending the duration of the exhibitions at the Hong Kong International Airport and the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre, we will allow even more people the opportunity to experience this city's wonderful history and culture."

More information about the roving exhibition is available on the Development Bureau's heritage conservation website (www.heritage.gov.hk).
