In view of the large number of applications (i.e. 114) received for adaptive re-use of the seven historic buildings, they were divided into three groups for processing as follows:

Group 1: Applications for Old Tai O Police Station, Fong Yuen Study Hall and Lai Chi Kok Hospital;

Group 2: Applications for Lui Seng Chun and Old Tai Po Police Station; and

Group 3: Applications for North Kowloon Magistracy and Mei Ho House.

Group 1

At its meetings held on 30 and 31 July 2008, the Advisory Committee on Revitalisation of Historic Buildings (ACRHB) considered the Group 1 applications and selected five applications for the second round selection. The distribution of selected applications is as follows:

Group 2

At the meetings held on 11 and 22 September, and 12 November 2008, the ACRHB considered the Group 2 applications and selected three applications for the second round selection. The distribution of selected applications is as follows:

The ACRHB has completed assessment of the applications entering the second round. The Secretary for Development has accepted the ACRHB’s recommendation and given the approval-in-principle to the selected non-profit-making organizations. The results were announced on 17 February 2009 as follows:
