The Advisory Committee on Revitalisation of Historic Buildings (Advisory Committee) has completed the assessment of the proposals submitted for revitalising four historic buildings under Batch III of the Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme (Revitalisation Scheme). The Secretary for Development has accepted the Advisory Committee’s recommendation and given approval-in-principle to the selected non-profit-making organisations.

Since the launch of Batch III of the Revitalisation Scheme in October 2011, a total of 34 applications had been received for revitalising the four historic buildings. After months of hardwork by the Advisory Committee, the following three revitalisation projects were selected:

Historic Building Project Selected Organisation Selected
Haw Par Mansion Haw Par Music Farm The Aw Boon Haw Foundation (Co-operating organisation: Haw Par Music Foundation Limited)
Bridges Street Market Hong Kong News-Expo Journalism Education Foundation Hong Kong Limited
Former Fanling Magistracy The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) Institute for Leadership Development The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups

The Advisory Committee recommended that the revitalisation project of King Yin Lei should be withdrawn this time and be re-launched in the next batch of projects under the Revitalisation Scheme so that a more suitable revitalisation proposal could be identified and the building could be put into better use. A questionnaire survey was conducted during the roving exhibition of the two shortlisted proposals in September/October 2012. The survey results did not show any clear preference of the public on these proposals. Please click here for the survey report (only Chinese version available).
